Koala offers a premium quality and professional service in safety consulting, on either a part time or full time capacity. Through oversight, training and submittals, we aid construction companies in navigating through the complexities of construction safety, while simultaneously creating a safer, more productive work environment.  Our philosophy is to assist clients in making their projects more productive by eliminating needless delays caused by accidents, injuries and enforcement.

PAINTING AND INTERIORS

We have a dedicated division for delivering a simple "white box" or "vanilla shell" space, from installing the drywall to prime and paint, delivering you a clean slate.  Need a customized color palette for your unique space?  We can do that too.  Our design team has a keen eye for materials and finishes and can ensure that your home, office or project design coordinates with your intent.

GLASS AND DOORS

From full storefront assemblies to removal and replacement of interior and exterior windows, frames and doors, Koala Companies is able to work with custom requests as well as emergency repair services.  We will also work with your insurance services to assist in getting you the coverage you need for any unforeseen accidents.

Renovations, facade removal, razes, or cleanup of any interior or exterior space in preparation for a new tenant or makeover. 

Demolition plans and AHA

Koala Companies has aided in creating various demo plans, including means and methods and safety measures for several projects including tear downs, high rise buildings and mechanical demolition.

EVERGREEN BUSINESS CENTER

Storm water management consisting of grade and backfill before implementing the necessary controls and measures to prevent further erosion, consisting of landscape layout and concrete stabilization.

DC WATER

Project management, competent person and site safety supervision.  Full demolition plans, sequencing, and all safety submittals were submitted to Skanska Building USA for the structural and mechanical phases of the project, which included heavy equipment, saw-cutting, hot work / torching, and robotic means and methods.  

US CAPITOL POWERPLANT

Safety management and Activity Hazards Analysis of structural demolition of concrete pads, steel structures and heavy slab demolition.   Koala Companies worked in conjunction with Prime and Sub-trades to fulfill safety requirements for the Architect of the Capitol. 

DEERS HEAD HOSPITAL

Project Management of selective demolition and concrete saw-cutting, performed while facility remained in operation.  Safety, coordination and community consideration, such as noise and dust levels were key factors in client deliverables.

1255 22ND STREET NW, WASHINGTON DC

Project Management and Supervision of precast panel removal, interior gut and structural demolition of downtown mid-rise building.  Complete coordination of labor, equipment, safety protocols and scheduling.

Concrete demolition and entire storefront removal of several retail stores in Bel Air, MD.  Our work for EDC Contractors included the demolition and roof repair in preparation for steel framing of the new facade. 

SHERWIN WILLIAMS, LAKE WORTH

Located just outside of Miami, FL, this pad site underwent major renovations in preparation for a development sale.   Koala Companies managed the complete interior and exterior renovation for the new tenant.  Interior demolition, paving, landscaping and a re-roof of the building.

Site demolition, earthwork and complete paving and re-striping,  handicap concrete work and railings, and hazardous soil remediation in Landover Hills, Maryland.  Additional work included some landscaping, brick repair, facade demolition and renovation.

Koala Companies acts as an ongoing Construction Manager of this retail center in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia.  Work has included structural work and repairs for Verizon and Panera, and total demolition of the Total Nutrition space.  

AMBEST AND HILLTOP, FAIRFAX VA

Ongoing construction management and property maintenance of retail strip centers, including tenant turnovers and maintenance of property.  Koala Companies has performed such work as EIFS repair, asphalt and concrete repair, metal rails and landings, as well as painting and power washing. 

ACWORTH AVENUE SHOPPES

Site and storm drain demolition, reconstruction of storm drain and repave.  

NAVIENT OFFICE

Construction of a new office in Reston, Virginia.  All work was performed after hours to avoid disruption to existing operations.  

ESSEX BANK DEMOLITION

Exterior demolition of the bank canopy, brickwork and exterior signs.

LULULEMON, AlEXANDRIA, VA

Bid, negotiated, estimated and managed the demolition of a former Cosi restaurant in preparation for a new retail store.   Project management and site supervision.

DC JAIL

Project Management, Activity Hazards Analysis and administrative support for removal of exterior precast panels, complete interior gut of cells and mechanical systems.  Extensive structural demolition and torch work. 

1411 WILSON BLVD, ARLINGTON VA

Coordination of trades for the complete demolition of apartment buildings.

GEORGIA AVE, WASHINGTON DC

Site preparation for permit process, bid and subcontract of demolition work, including complete raze of several buildings, asbestos abatement and underground tank removal.

ANNIE AXELROD

As principal of Koala Companies, Annie plays a chief role in every aspect of each project and focuses on project coordination and client deliverables.

Before forming Koala Companies, Annie worked with international and local architectural, construction, real estate and development firms in various roles as Director of Business Development or Project Manger and Coordinator.   Her knowledge of the construction process has allowed her to move effortlessly though projects, and has enabled her to communicate efficiently with her clients and their clients to ensure the successful and timely completion of a project.

Chelsea Wilson

Chelsea is a passionate real estate agent and project manager supported by a background in data analytics and program management.  This is the foundation for her data-centric approach, which produces effective and valuable solutions for her clients.  She has practiced modern methodologies for agile projects in various regulated industries, translating into an understanding of the various specifications and core business aspects.  Her focus and attention to detail allow her to give full support to her clients as they navigate their next endeavors.  

When not at work, Chelsea can be found at her local yoga studio or out with her dog in the Virginia countryside.  She brings a collected and friendly approach to our clients, who feel confident and at ease in her capabilities. 

Tracy Self

Tracy manages the day to day operations for our clients and owners and oversees that each property is running smoothly and efficiently.  She acts as liaison between the tenants and owners as needed and mitigates any potential conflicts, ensuring a successful relationship between all parties involved in each property.  

Holding a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech, Tracy is a graduate from one of the nations most elite property management programs.   She began her career with a brief internship at Kettler and was quickly chosen as an official hire, where she managed various portfolios, including luxury, mixed-use, lease up, renovations and tax credit properties.  

Tracy has also been instrumental in the operations of several start-ups including IT management and has a solid understanding of the dedication it takes to make each business successful.  

Koala Companies is based in the DC Metro area, with satellite offices and subcontractors in NYC, Miami and Atlanta.
